Edessa

The town of Edessa is located in front of the Vermion mountains with beautiful townscape and the famous waterfall.

Edessa is one of the most beautiful villages of Northern Greece. The village is crossed by many small creeks, which gave the city its name (Voden = Edessa = water). These creeks supply the city, in which 15.000 people live, in summer with enough water, so that the streets are decorated with beautiful lush Oleander, hibiscus hedges and roses.......................................................

The city economic importance is as a centre of fruit picking and canning industry.

The biggest attraction of the city is the famous waterfall.

Numerous watercourses unite to a large waterfall, which steeply chlorinide from 25 m high and is picturesquely framed by the greenery of pomegranate, fig and almond trees.

It is worth to visit the waterfalls and follow small paths. It’s fun to place behind a cascade to see like through a veil and get yourself a few splashes of water.

Above of the waterfalls there is a cool and shady park with pavilions with a great view and magnificent old trees.

A little bit down of the karaktes is a small cave in which man can go 20 m far.
